The Azzurre beat the United States with a clear 3-0. Fabris: “Thanks to the girls, to the dream team of our coaches and to FIPAV, but also thanks to the Serie A Clubs! We will celebrate with the Super Cup in Rome on September 28th”

The best possible ending: it’s all true, coach Julio Velasco’s Italy is a gold medalist in women’s volleyball at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games! After an incredible journey that saw the Dominican Republic, the Netherlands, Turkey, Serbia, Turkey again and finally the reigning Olympic champions, the United States of America, fall one after the other, the Italian national team forcefully took the most precious metal, the first in its history.

The comment of the President of the Lega Pallavolo Serie A Femminile Mauro Fabris: “Our fantastic Champions have given Italy and the national volleyball movement the greatest joy today: the first Olympic gold medal in women’s volleyball! Thanks and congratulations to the Azzurre, to Julio Velasco, Massimo Barbolini and Lorenzo Bernardi, the dream team of coaches of our Serie A, and to the entire Italvolley led by President Giuseppe Manfredi: the dream of all of us has come true, bringing women’s volleyball rightfully into the history of the Italian Olympic sport”.

“An epic undertaking – continues Fabris – followed with passion by the entire country, which repays us all: the athletes and coaches first, the Federation, the League and above all the Serie A clubs, for the work done in recent years and for how much they have invested in the growth of our athletes, to structure, with private resources, the clubs that have built “The most beautiful championship in the world” and favored the birth of a young and winning national team, destined to remain at the top of the world in the near future. Clubs that last season achieved the record of winning all three European club titles, taking us permanently to the top of Europe. In a few weeks, Serie A returns, with the Super Cup in Rome on September 28, and we will celebrate this wonderful success as it should be!”.
