Numia Vero Volley Milan did not flinch despite Egonu’s absence and played an incredible match with a super Sylla leading the way, but for the eighth time the Supercup goes to Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano with Fahr MVP

The first toast of the championship still has the flavor of the Treviso hills: it is Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano to raise, for the eighth time, the seventh in a row, the Fineco Supercup, the event organized by the Women’s Volleyball League Serie A in collaboration with Master Group Sport. Decisive, once again as in the last three confrontations that put a trophy up for grabs against Numia Vero Volley Milano (including the friendly tournament in Courmayeur, in addition to the Italian Cup and the Champions League), the tie-break, at the end of a hard-fought, tight and very tense match that animated and exhilarated the 10,300 people present at a packed Palazzo dello Sport in Roma Eur. Despite the absence of Paola Egonu, the meneghine played a crazy game, once again putting fear in the panthers especially thanks to the incredible performance of Myriam Sylla, author of 24 points and searched in the hottest moments by an excellent Alessia Orro. Also good were the other two laterals, Daalderop (19) and Cazaute (17), and Heyrman, with 5 walls on the 13 total points. On the other side of the court, a beacon in the darkest moment of the potentially decisive fourth set, was Sarah Fahr, named MVP of the match thanks to her 17 points with 63% from the field. Despite a less-than-optimal start, Haak and Gabi came to the fore in the final, scoring 20 and 16 points respectively, but also decisive were the usual Joanna Wolosz and Monica De Gennaro, the competition’s overall record woman with 9 trophies raised.

The comment of the President of the Women’s Volleyball League Serie A Mauro Fabris, who presented the Fineco Super Cup together with the Minister of Culture Alessandro Giuli, FIPAV Vice-President Adriano Bilato and the Councillor for Major Events, Tourism and Fashion Alessandro Onorato: “The expectations we had for the first 2024-25 event were very high and we can say without a shadow of a doubt that we have met them. After a season that has seen us win all the European cups and a historic Olympic gold medal with the splendid girls of the National Team, today rightly honored at the start of the match, the sold out Palazzo dello Sport in Rome repays us for all our efforts: the more than ten thousand spectators who came and the many who will certainly have followed this stellar match on Rai 2 can only give us further impetus to do even more in this new year of Serie A that awaits us. Today yet another audience record was set for one of our events, but the goal will always be to break new ones and take the excellence of Italian women’s volleyball to unprecedented levels. My heartfelt congratulations to Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano of Presidents Piero Garbellotto and Pietro Maschio for another extraordinary result that has been attesting for years now to the quality of the work and efforts put in by the entire club and sponsors. The summer buying campaign brought to Italy world-class champions, ready to shine in our league, and the first trophy: one could hardly hope for a better start. My thanks also go to Numia Vero Volley Milano of presidents Aldo Fumagalli and Alessandra Marzari: the show offered was also thanks to you, and I am sure there will be other opportunities to prove the value of the new team.”
