Sunday (5pm) away to San Giovanni in Marignano against a team still unbeaten after two days

Having archived the first victory of the season, spiker Lotti looks ahead: «We work to improve more and more»

«It was an endless match, we knew how to suffer and in the end it paid off». Two days after her team’s first championship victory, Silvia Lotti, spiker of Fgl-Zuma Castelfranco Pisa, commented on the outcome of the match against Casalmaggiore. A result that contributes to growing enthusiasm in the environment and above all to giving confidence to the athletes. «It was a very demanding match: we approached the match well and took a 2-0 lead, then they started to make a few fewer mistakes while we slowed down in our performance. We therefore reached a tie-break which, given the final score (22/20), was in fact like a normal set». A success which, also because of how it came about, can represent a great help in the girls’ growth path within a new difficult category like Serie A2: «These matches always teach us to never give up», confirms Lotti, «they contribute to make us understand that we must suffer until the last ball to achieve our final objective, which is to obtain salvation». However, there remains some regret for not having taken advantage of the opportunity to close the match immediately, ahead by two partials and leading 19/17 in the third after having managed to contain the proud reaction of the opponents: «Yes, we need to understand why there was a decline, this too will help us improve. Matches like this must be brought home immediately», continues the spiker born in 1992.

Silvia Lotti durante la parLotti was the new member of the lineup in last Sunday’s starting six compared to the first day of the championship: «Satisfied with my performance? I am very self-critical and above all I demand a lot from myself because I know what I can give. I think I have provided my contribution but I am of the opinion that we can always do better».

The victory certainly thrilled the fans present, who were able to witness a spectacular match: «I was pleasantly surprised by the crowd, there was a lot of support which helped us a lot. It was even nicer to win in an environment like this», admits the spiker in place 4 in this regard.

The next opponent will be Omag-Mt San Giovanni in Marignano, a team that in the first two days achieved full spoils without losing a single set. A difficult away match: «It will be a difficult match, there’s no point in hiding behind a finger. They started very strong, they obtained two clear results. They boast a player like Serena Ortolani on the roster who certainly needs no introduction», underlines Lotti again. «I also know coach Massimo Bellano well, an extremely meticulous coach. I know he will study us very carefully. As far as I’m concerned, however, these are the matches I like the most. These are exciting matches, during the season we will have the opportunity to compete against more high-level teams and we must take these opportunities as a moment of further growth».
