The Olympic women’s volleyball tournament starts on Sunday 28 July at 9am with Italy-Dominican Republic
Just under two days until the official debut of coach Julio Velasco’s Italian national team at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. An adventure that will be full of emotions, with the Italian selection in search of the first Olympic medal in its history, just over a month after the success in VNL.
Among the opponents of the girls led by Anna Danesi there will be fierce players, all sharing the same goal: the gold medal. Among those called up, there are several representatives of the old and new Serie A1 Tigotà, whose calendar was made official just yesterday. In fact, there will be as many as 34 athletes present in France who will be part of the next championship, accompanied by two coaches who will be protagonists in the Fineco Super Cup such as Daniele Santarelli (Turkey) and Stefano Lavarini (Poland) and an assistant coach such as Lorenzo Bernardi (Italy).
The representation of the teams sees the Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano and the Vero Volley Milano tied in the lead, with 8 players each, followed by the 6 of the Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76, the 5 of the Savino Del Bene Scandicci to then arrive at the Wash4Green Pinerolo (3 ), the Igor Gorgonzola Novara (2), the Megabox Ond. Savio Vallefoglia (1) and the Roma Volley (1).
Extending the analysis to past championships, the colony of athletes who have passed through the Serie A is greatly expanded, starting from the very large American representation with 12 athletes out of 13 protagonists of the last seasons up to a veteran of the top category like Caterina Bosetti and to his ex-partner in Novara Ebrar Karakurt.
